You are at a shopping mall, and the lady in the red cap says, "I'd like that white teddy bear with the pink ribbon put in the Happy Birthday balloon." More and more people gather looking at your array of stuffed animals on your shelf. They select various stuffed animals as you and you helper attend to them one after another. The end of the day. $3000.
You are at the corner of a local gas station of a busy street, and cars pull up to the side asking you how much the brown teddy bears that are seen on your balloon display tree. Another car pulls up. Then another. Someone gives you a $100 bill. You have your helper run over to the owner of the gas station for change. He smiles too because he knows that you are offering him a 10% commission on each sale for allowing you to set up your display at the corner of his gas station.
Three weeks later, and you have contracted with 6 gas stations. You have workers selling on each corner. Alice, worker number 3, calls you on your cell phone and tells you that she needs more balloon gifts. You and Lisa, your number 1 helper, quickly put together another 11 gifts. Selecting The Best Balloon Stuffing Machine
When I speak of selecting the best balloon stuffing machine for you, I am not only referring to the selection of the best brand, but also the best balloon stuffing machine to fit within your budget. There are 3 brands of balloon stuffing machines that I have carefully examined and have viewed as to their quality features and the pros and cons of each system. The 3 major balloon stuffing systems are:
1) Thrifty Impressions
2) Balloon Wrap
3) Classy Wrap
ï Thrifty Impressions is a balloon stuffing system that does the job, but it is basically a desktop model that, comparatively speaking, is highly priced for a desktop system (around $897).
ï Balloon Wrap is one of the original balloon stuffing systems and one of the leading commercial models in the industry. The machine is made of the finest materials, and is very carefully handcrafted. This is the most expensive system for doing balloon stuffing. Last I heard, a Balloon Wrap machine goes for about $1400.
ï Classy Wrap in my opinion, and after years of investigation into this profession, has the perfect combination of everything that you could want in a balloon stuffing machine. It is affordable. It is sturdy. It creates your gifts fast and easy. At the time of this writing, there is a Special Classy Wrap Package for only $997 which includes:
a) Classy Wrap
b) Jiffy Wrap (3 inflation tubes)
c) Display Tree

Classy Wrap
Classy Wrap is the best-priced all around stuffing system to use from a home base or a retail location. The little sister to the Classy Wrap system is Snappy Wrap is the economical desktop model which is sold for $597, and can do everything that Classy Wrap can do with the difference that each balloon must be hand-fed over the mouth of the inflation opening where Classy Wrap places the balloon over the mouth of the balloon opening automatically.

Create A Portfolio
It is very true that what you can't show, you can't sell. In most cases, not only will your gifts sell most of your new customers but also a good photo of one of your gifts. What I mean is that you must have a good portfolio of the sample gifts that you have to offer. How do you create a portfolio, you ask, if you haven't yet created a great variety of gifts in a balloon? Here's a tip, get a color brochure of gifts in balloons and cut out sample photos of the same in gift trade magazines. Go to your nearest Office Depot or Kinko's and color photocopy and enlarge at the same time each photo to at least a 4î x 6î size. Take each of the enlarged color photos of your selected balloon stuffing gifts and place them in a finely bound photo album. Once you have at least a half dozen good photos in your album or more, begin a crusade to let everyone, and I mean E-V-E-R-Y-O-N-E about your new business.
Make a habit of always carrying your balloon stuffing portfolio with you, and show it to everyone with whom you can say Hello. What I mean is that a person doesn't have to be your best friend, somebody you shot marbles with, jumped rope or played hop scotch as a kid. It could be the checker at the cash register at your favorite supermarket, the teller who usually takes care of you at the bank or the postal clerk at the window of your P.O. Box. After saying the niceties of good morning, How are you?, or whatever the greeting or chit chat may be, you suddenly pull out your balloon stuffing portfolio and say, ìHave you seen anything like this?î Then quickly open it up for them to see. The photos will speak for themselves. ìWow, you do this?î they say. ìYes, and take my business card because Mother's Day is coming, and when you can't think of a better gift, give me a call, I have VERY affordable prices!î If you do this only five days a week, approaching and handling out cards to 10 people per day, you will be spreading the word to 200 people a month. Do this consistently, and your phone will ring off the hook.

Make A List Of Major Holidays
By far the wisest approach to success in balloon stuffing in your beginning stages is to concentrate on every major holiday. Make a list on a 12-month wall calendar, circling in red if necessary, all of the most celebrated events of the years: Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Hanukkah and Christmas, just to name a few. Then proceed to approach at least 10 people per day with your portfolio of balloon stuffing gifts, and let them each know of your availability to provide them with great gift for that particular upcoming celebration.

Keep Your Day Job For Now
Far too many people start a business as a means to quit an job that they don't particularly like. This is a big mistake and the wrong attitude as everything and every experience in life should be viewed as a means to an end. Your job is your base, your foundation and safety net until you have gained the necessary market experience, built a clientele and following and saved up enough reserve capital to last you for 6 months if you should decide to go full time, that is, if the worst happened, you could weather the storm for 6 months.

Let Everyone Know What You Do
We have already touched upon this above, but it is not too much to say again that your balloon stuffing business must not be the best kept secret in the world. Make a list of everyone who you know by sight (even if you don't know or remember their name). Go for a list of at least 100 faces; you can even give them names until you know their real ones, e.g., the guy at the supermarket, my letter carrier, my neighbor across the street, etc. You get the idea. You must grow where you are planted, and start within your own circle.

Work With Other Retail Merchants
To make really big money in balloon stuffing, particularly during high demand holidays like Mother's Day or Valentine's Day, you must learn the concept of multiplying yourself in others. To work with other retail merchants, simply leave 3 to 6 of your balloon stuffing gift creations in specially made Gifts In A Balloon bags which is a crystal clear polypropylene bag preventing your balloon gifts from ever getting cloudy as long as they are inside these bags. Place your balloon stuffing gifts in 100 retail locations on consignment, such as, small gift shops, liquor stores, small grocery stores and drug stores, during the high demand holidays. Offer the owners 50% of your profits if and when a sale is made of your gifts in their respective stores. What they don't sell, you simply pick up later, and repackage the contents of each gift for a later celebration. Nothing is lost, and nobody loses. And when someone gains, everyone gains. This is truly a win-win situation, and can mean thousands of extra dollars in your pocket every holiday.

Email Monthly Greetings To All Your Customers
Ever notice how the really big companies are always trying harder and harder to keep you thinking about them. I'm talking about Coca Cola, Ford, IBM, Microsoft. The list is endless. You have to utilize this same principal in regards to your customer list. First of all, you must maintain a customer list of everyone who has ever purchased from you. But let us take this concept to the 21st century. Create an email mailing list. What I mean is that ever time you make a sale or a contact - get their EMAIL address!! Use the Address Book feature of your Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Outlook group email feature to send out monthly group emails to your list. If your server doesn't allow you to send out large amounts of email at any one time, sign up for online mailing list services such as those found at www.talklist.com.
What you want to do is to send at the beginning of each month some type of greeting to your list. YOU DON'T HAVE TO ASK FOR ANYTHING!! Just send your list a nice card. There are plenty of web sites that offer free postcards. If you can't find the perfect one, try the one on the bottom of my home page at http://www.prosperballoons.com If you don't send any fancy postcards, at least send a simply message such as ìHappy Easter, I Like You!î in the Subject; in the Body of your message, you can add Best wishes from ìYour Nameî.
If you send out these monthly greetings consistently without fail over the course of 12 months, someone is very likely to have a gift that he or she must buy. If they need to buy a gift or if they hear of someone else who needs to buy a gift, who do you think will be the first person they will think of? Yes, you're right. Hundreds of people will think of you, and in time your phone will ring off the hook, and you will have created an instant ATM cash machine in your living room, and you will be able to take as much cash as you want. My best wishes to you.
"If you really want to do something, you'll find a way; if you don't, you'll find an excuse."
